Who we are
It all started in 2020 when my own dog, Mav, was just a youngster. With factors outside of our control limiting the socialization and exposure so necessary for a developing pup, I knew I had to find a solution. What I came up with has altered the direction of our lives ever since.
In learning more about my canine companion, I came to see more clearly how aspects of daily life in the human world can impact our canine counterparts. Many popular options like dog parks and free-roam daycare facilities lack a few crucial components and leave our dogs unfulfilled. It wasn’t until I saw this come to fruition in my own dog that I knew I had to take matters into my own hands.
How many pups must also be sitting at home waiting for their owner to return from work? How many might also be overstimulated and lacking structure or education in daycare facilities? Could using these possibly be causing the reactivity at the end of the leash that I’m starting to see on our walks when we encounter other dogs? Where might I find other owners who take the husbandry of their pets as seriously as I do?
I resigned from corporate life that Friday and set out to change how we see dog care and seek how we might best fundamentally fulfill the wild creatures we share our homes with. The idea of creating a dog care company and offering a pack walking service was born - creating a natural remedy to so many discomforts our dogs face in the human world and allowing them an outlet for an energy release that results in a better behaved dog within the home. Providing an outlet for my dog to find his place within a pack allowed him to become more socially balanced, relaxed and at ease both within the canine society and the human world. And these benefits expanded well beyond Mavros as well - with our clients seeing the same benefits within their own dogs, time and time again.
After going back to school for dog training and flying to Florida to learn from Ivan Balabanov, I added private dog training to our list of offerings to our clients in June of 2021. This has allowed me to reach even more clients and their dogs, allowing dogs who needed more skills to be able to experience the benefits of pack walking while maintaining the safety of all involved.
Cowboy Canines continues to strive to provide the highest level of service for your dog - coupling together exercise, training and socialization as our trinity of enrichment. I am a firm believer that the combination of a structured pack walk and positive reinforcement will help your dog to form positive associations with canines, humans and other stimulus they may have found unsettling. You can rest assured that your dog will come home tired, happy and more well-mannered.
We know you have many options for doggy daycare, but none that can match Cowboy Canines’ perfectly tailored approach.
